That being said, I think the there are 2 key points that should be highlighted in terms of looking at the archetypes:

1) Archetypes are not Absolutes
Although these archetypes provide rough outlines for what exists in the world, they certainly are not meant to be a definitive or exhaustive list by any means.

The process of identifying them was valuable, in my opinion, in that they show a certain empirical representation of all the entries as a whole.

Hybrids do and always will exists.

2) Archetypes account for more than emotion
Your example is a good one, but it also shows the main point I was trying to raise. Any post is personal, if not by the simple fact that a person is the composing it.

As I tried to highligh, formatting and, more importantly, effort are key factors when trying to shoe-horn and entry into an archetype.

A rant about an employee, as based on something that happened today, is still a rant. It’s less so a commentary on the way things “work” in the larger context, though that’s certainly not excluded.

The point is really that you know you are doing something different, despite them being personal. When you post those pictures, you enter into a slight different creation and thought process. Same thing goes for writing the review of a movie. The differences are subtle for some, extreme for others, however.. I would be hard pressed to find someone that could convincingly and honestly say that it was ALL the same.

As for the hybrid question. Yes. But I think I should clarify that I haven’t examined Blog Archtypes yet, just the Blog Entries themselves. As I’ve noted in the original definitions, as well as above, hybrids are definitely out there and certainly expected.
